BOLD Public Schools will be having an e learning day tomorrow, April 2nd.

Greetings BOLD Parents and Guardians,

We would like to thank the parents and guardians who volunteer to chaperone our field trips. We understand that being asked to pay a $15 background check fee may not feel like an expression of gratitude, and we want you to know that this fee can be waived if it presents a barrier to participation.

The $15 fee helps offset the total cost of each background check, which is $45. This allows the district to manage the significant expense of conducting these checks while ensuring the safety of our students and providing all interested parents and guardians the opportunity to chaperone.

We appreciate your understanding and your continued support of our students’ learning.
Sincerely,

Tim Tydlacka
BOLD Superintendent

On Saturday, March 28 BOLD Band and Choir students participated in MSHSL Subsection 12 Solo and Ensemble Contest at Benson High School. 2 Vocal Duets, 1 Mixed Choral Group (Pop Singers), 6 Vocal Solos, and 9 Instrumental Solos performed for judges who would critique and work with the students on a variety of performance factors. Students were given ratings consisting of Fair, Good, Excellent, and Superior. Of the 18 events that performed, 2 received Excellent and 16 received Superior ratings with Seth Lippert receiving a Best at Site Award for his vocal solo. The students all did an amazing job! Mr. Strandberg (Band) and Mr. Kunka (Choir) are very proud of their outstanding achievements!

Greetings BOLD Community,

Until today, I was beginning to think like many others that there was either no pile of Bird Island building bricks set aside or that the pile was invisible.

Well, today after talking to Wayne, who is overseeing the demo, I learned that there is, indeed, a pile, and it is visible, albeit much smaller than I had imagined. Attached, is a picture of "The Pile."

Wayne assured me that he fully understands the importance of keeping the pile alive for community members, and he said he has been and will continue to hand pick the "good" bricks to add to the pile throughout the demo.

The top floor is supposed to be down by the end of the day today, but they are still waiting for "structural issues" to be resolved before taking down the bottom two floors.

Greetings BOLD Community,

Snowflakes have been sighted in Bird Island, but I haven't seen anyone firing up any snowmobiles. I have seen some lawn mowers moving around, however. This is a confusing time.

Although I cannot predict the weather around here, obviously, I can give a construction update, and here it is:

Area E (New Entrance)

Taping
Painting starts end of next week
eEectrical inspection passed
Mechanical complete minus RTU (Rooftop Unit) set
Planned for next week
Plumbing inspection Monday
Tile for toilet rooms Monday

Area D (NW Corner)

Dewatered
Elevator wall ready to be set next week

Bird Island

The demolition continues

The munchers still have not munched, but they will be munching soon, and I will give the heads up to the community when I get the heads up from Nexus.

I hosted my first "Coffee with Mr. Tea" yesterday morning at 7 am in the District Office Trailer. No one showed up, but I also forgot to mention the invite in my last update.

For future reference, I will be hosting "Coffee with Mr. Tea" in the District Office trailer at 7 am on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. The next one will be April 9th. All are welcome. There is no agenda. I hope to see someone next time!

Take care everyone,

Tim

Our Spanish 3 & 4 students are having an unforgettable time in Costa Rica! 🇨🇷✨

From exploring a local chocolate factory to picking out school supplies for students in a nearby community, they’re getting hands-on experiences that go far beyond the classroom. They’ve even had the chance to dig in (literally!) and enjoy some time playing in the dirt—embracing every moment of the adventure.

We’re so proud of the way they’re representing our school while learning, giving back, and making memories that will last a lifetime! 💚🌎

The best snow removal system is definitely warm weather. All of those snowblowers that would not start (including mine) are no longer an issue, and the shovels can be put on standby until next winter.

Here's what's happening with construction this week:

Bird Island

Demo work and clean up will continue for another month.

Up Next:

Civil (infrastructure projects and land development that support public life) and the vestibule will be going up.

Olivia

Area E (New Entrance)

Sheetrocking and MEP continue
Inspections next week
Roofing is water tight
Windows are installed

Up Next:

Finishes, tile, paint, flooring

Area D

Survey done on existing buildings in relation to where the new building is going

Pre Summer Slam AKA "Shake 'n' Bake"

Science Rooms

Framing work begins
MEP rough ins started

Concessions

Flooring has been abated
Demo of interior space and poly over window areas
Trophy cases removed

Nexus is trying everything they can think of to get this project moving along faster, including changing the operation title from "Fast and Furious" to "Shake 'n' Bake"

If anyone ever sees anyone standing around out there, just yell out "Shake 'n' Bake!" and that should get things moving.
