NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION

Do you remember a teacher or a class that changed your direction?

BOLD Public Schools is growing our Career & Technical Education program — and we need people who work in the real world to help us make sure what we're teaching actually matters when students get there.

We're adding to our CTE Advisory Committee, made up of industry professionals in Bird Island, Olivia, Lake Lillian, and across Renville County who believe that investing in our students is investing in the future of our rural communities. The committee will meet 3–4 times a year to help us ask the hard questions: Are we teaching the right skills? Is our equipment current? Are our students walking out of here ready to enter the workforce?

Workforce development doesn't start when a student graduates. It starts in the classroom — and we want people who understand that to have a voice in shaping what that looks like at BOLD.

We're looking for professionals from fields including:

◆ Business & Entrepreneurship
◆ Digital Technology
◆ Education & Human Services

This isn't a rubber-stamp role. We want advisors who will push us.

Greetings BOLD Community,

As Chuck Blum always says on the radio, "There are great things happening at BOLD."

Our portable kitchen has been doing the job, and the kitchen crew has been doing their job with it. Nexus built a canopy that extends from the kitchen to the cafeteria to help keep out the elements and maintain a clear passageway for the transport of food. We tip our hats to the kitchen crew for refusing to compromise the quality of food, despite the suboptimal conditions for cooking.

We also tip our hats to our custodial staff, who have been taking care of the big stuff, while still paying attention to details so that we can work and learn with the dignity and pride that we bring to BOLD each day.

We are working with Nexus on planning and strategy to make up as much time as possible on area D, and we appreciate the proactive ideas that contractors come up with during Nexus meetings.

Mrs. Christenson did not have power leading to the island in her classroom, as it was not written in the plans, but luckily one of the electricians anticipated that we would want to do a change order to get power in there eventually, so he created space to run electrical up through her floor when he was doing work underneath the classroom, making the job of running power into the island faster and easier.

The new gym floor has been presenting some unforeseen challenges that have raised the cost of the overall project, but thanks to the generous donation made by Mr. Wagemaker, our LTFM fund will not need to take an extra hit for that.

We have a facilities committee meeting this Wednesday. Nexus will be providing a construction update at that meeting, and we will look at some things happening around the building, so stay tuned for another update at the end of the week.
